About the Artist - Karen Klemp
I am an artist and an astrologer. I graduated from Central Michigan University in art education and taught both Montessori and art K-12 in both private and public schools. I received an elementary certificate from Grand Valley University and later a masters degree from Cleveland State University. Many of my pieces have been displayed in various restaurants in the trinities area.
As an astrologer I attended several workshops. I studied under Alan Oken in Bali in both Western Astrology and Esoteric Astrology. I presented a two day workshop at Grand Rapids Community College on how to read an astrology chart. This was featured in Grand Rapids Press. Since then I have volunteered workshops in libraries in Michigan. I started doing readings at Spirit Dream's in 1994.
Whether I am painting or reading someone's chart, I work with color. Color is energy and light. It is one of the reasons I have lived in my Spring Lake home for over 40 years. I love the different colors of our seasons here in Michigan from the fresh greens of spring to the bright colors of summer flowers. Autumn brings in burnt warm colors on the trees that fall into the bare black bones of winter. Michigan is my home.
My portfolio of 2023 - 2024 is about the changing colors of Michigan throughout the seasons.

Fairy Garden
This is an amazing garden on 4th St. in Grand Haven that is truly magical. It is a favorite spot for hummingbirds, butterflies and a darting cat named Lollie.

Green Apple Tree
This wonderful tree lives on Pruin St. in Spring Lake. I knocked on the owner's door to see if I could sit and paint it. No one answered so I just painted it. He later showed up and said it was okay.

Autumn Morning Rain
I drove by these woods one rainy morning in Nunica. I had to stop and take a picture. The trees were really this black and the leaves were this bright.
